Oregon Department of Public Safety and Standards Training (DPSST): Armed Private Security Class

Cost- $300

This class is a 24-hour training course to certify as an Armed Security Professional, in accordance to the state of Oregon’s DPSST coursework requirements.  Day 1 and 2 will be comprised of classroom-style teaching at Rogue Protection Group and day 3 will be taught at RVSSA in Central Point. RPG provides all classroom training material associated with the course. Student is responsible for personal range equipment.

Pre-Requisites:

-Age 21+

-Persons who are convicted felons, have a documented history of serious mental illness, or who have been convicted of domestic violence need not apply.

Required Gear:
-Eye Protection
-Ear Protection
-Handgun with holster
-Two magazines and magazine pouch
-150+ rounds ammunition
-Belt
-Range suitable attire
-Water

PRE REQUISITES-

Have a desire to learn.  Persons who are convicted felons, have a documented history of serious mental illness, or who have been convicted of domestic violence need not apply.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT-

  • Pistol,

  • ammunition 50 rounds,

  • eye and ear protection,

  • suitable range attire (no low cut shirts),

  • notebook and pen,

  • sunscreen,

  • hydration.

COURSE SUMMARY-

This course was developed to introduce the knowledge, skills, attitude, and techniques essential to the safe and efficient use of a pistol. 

THIS COURSE INCLUDES- 

  • Pistol knowledge and safe gun handling

  • Ammunition knowledge and the fundamentals of pistol shooting

  • Firing the first shots

  • Selecting your pistol and its primary use

  • Maintaining your pistol

  • Skill development

  • Continuing training

DPSST Armed Refresher (RVSSA)

$150

Required Equipment:

Pistol, 50 rounds of ammunition, 3 magazines, holster, belt, eye/ear protection, knee pads optional.

Class starts at RVSSA at 3:00pm with class time to follow for paperwork.

This class satisfies DPPST’s requirement for the annual armed recertification. It is the student's responsibility to verify and submit all paperwork and fees associated with the certification. Call for more information and pre-requisites.
